Objectives: To give a clear protocol for patient selection, skin preparation, procedure tips and post-treatment rehabilitation of the patients asking for lifting with absorbable threads. Introduction: Thread lifting became a very popular procedure among patients and practitioners. It's a safe, effective procedure allowing the correction of the face shape. Nevertheless, there are some cases when the outcome of this procedure doesn't live up to expectations. The author sums up the personal experience of more than 10 years of thread use, giving clear indications for the long-lasting result. Materials / method: Having treated over 1000 patients in her own private practice as well as during thread methods courses held around the world, the author summarizes this experience in 4 steps to follow in order to obtain the desired outcome from absorbable thread treatment. Results: Thread lifting could provide natural and long-lasting results if all rules are respected. The consistent use of absorbable threads helps to keep the shape of the face unchanged over time. Conclusion: Thread lifting with absorbable threads has a reliable reputation. The technique is very effective if all the rules are respected, from the patient's assessment to post-procedure suggestions. The consistent systematic use of the threads allows for long-lasting rejuvenation.
